Each freshwater pearl takes 2-6 years to grow within an oyster. The longer the pearl stays in the shell, the more substantial it will be. They are extremely durable, and if cared for properly, will retain the original color, luster and orient for decades to come. Pearls are known to have a calming effect and are talismans for luck.
